10/4/1969 (50 years ago today) - Creedence Clearwater Revival score their first No. 1 LP when "Green River" starts four weeks at the top. And now, from the 'Strange, But True' Dept.: CCR never (ever) had a No. 1 single! Oh, they came close (lots of No. 2 placings, almost more than anyone else in fact), but wouldn't you have thought, with all of those mega-classic-singles still gettin' played on the radio today, that at least one would have hit the No. 1 spot?
