9/10/1964 (56 years ago today) - Rod Stewart recorded his first single as a solo artist, a cover version of blues legend Sonny Boy Williamson's "Good Morning Little School Girl" -- Future Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones plays on the record, which is a heck of a lot cooler than you might think...

9/10/1977 (43 years ago today) - ...and it still sells over 200,000 copies a year!: On this date, Meat Loaf released his first collaboration with composer Jim Steinman and producer Todd Rundgren, the totally over-the-top cinema-scope epic "Bat Out Of Hell", which has gone on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time, 45 million worldwide at last count!!! -- Every track is mega-mega-produced for maximum effect: "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" shines as the ballad, the spoken intro to "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)" is actually a wee bit spooky, and "Paradise By The Dashboard Light", with its baseball/play-by-play radio broadcast sub-context, is so over-the-top that it's entirely possible you (still) just might hear stuff in there that you hadn't noticed before, a pretty amazing feat for a song that's over four decades old and you thought you knew it inside-out, including this fun-fact: when they started making it, all Todd Rundgren had in mind was to spoof the sound of Bruce Springsteen records (100% true!)...

9/10/1988 (32 years ago today) - Guns N' Roses start two weeks at No. 1 on the singles chart with "Sweet Child O'Mine". You read that correctly: it was thirty-two years ago(!!!), when gas was 91 cents a gallon and the first "Die Hard" was at the cineplex. Feel free to laugh or cry...
