9/04/1962 (58 years ago today) - Producer George Martin was unhappy with the results of a previous attempt with the boys back in June, so today became The Beatles' first official formal recording at EMI's legendary Abbey Road Studios. This session went  much better as they finish off a total of six songs, including the forthcoming hit singles "Love Me Do" and "Please Please Me". So this is pretty much where it begins, then...

9/04/1965 (55 years ago today) - A mere three years later from that aforementioned session, The Fab Four now embark on a three week run at the top of the U.S. singles chart with "Help!". It is their ninth consecutive U.S. No. 1The word 'unstoppable' comes to mind...

9/04/1968 (52 years ago today) - Amazing to think how far our boys have progressed: today they record the promotional videos for "Hey Jude" and "Revolution" and keep in mind, kids, it's only been six years since they first recorded "Love Me Do". Interesting behind-the-scenes note: The Beatles do their vocals live(!) for the filming, while pre-recorded instrumental tracks are otherwise used -- This is how they get around the then-current British Musicians Union ban on lip-sync performances. For "Hey Jude", 300 fans and assorted extras just hangin' around all get to join in and sing along with the ending (how wicked cool is that?)...
