We hope you are having a good Veterans Day Weekend. Here's a Traffic Alert Reminder: Forest Ave is closed between Marginal Way & I-295 all weekend through 7am Mon.

From The City of Portland:

Starting at 10:00 pm on Friday, November 10th, the City of Portland will shut down Forest Avenue between Marginal Way and Interstate-295 for the weekend as part of the State Street Infrastructure Improvements project. The city’s contractor will cross Forest Avenue with new storm drain infrastructure that will link the State Street storm drain to the new storm drain outfall recently installed at back cove.  This work is part of the City’s on-going effort to reduce Combined Sewer Overflows into Back Cove. The City has chosen to have its contractor perform this work over the course of one weekend with a full shut down as opposed to a partial shut down over the course of one month in order to lessen disruptions.

The following interstate 295 exits will be closed during this period:

Interstate 295 Northbound:

Exit 6A (Inbound) off-ramp

Exit 6A (Forest Avenue Outbound) on-ramp

Interstate 295 Southbound:

Exit 6A (Inbound) off-ramp

I-295 Detour Information

  • North and Southbound I-295 Motorists are encouraged to use Exit 7 and Marginal Way to get around the closure.
  • Outbound Forest Avenue motorists seeking to access I-295 will be directed to Franklin Street Exit 7 on-ramp via Marginal Way.

Local Detour Information

  • Inbound Forest Avenue Motorists will be directed to use Preble Street Extension to Marginal way to get around the work zone.
  • Outbound Forest Avenue Motorists will be directed to use Marginal way to Preble Street Extension to get around the work zone.

Other Information

  • The contractor will be working 24-hours a day during this weekend closure to accomplish the Forest Avenue crossing work.
  • The City has set the weekend of November 17th-20th as a rain-date weekend in the event of inclement weather.
  • The City encourages motorists to use other avenues into the city during this work period.
