Unfortunate, Massive Depression Due to Hit Maine, New Hampshire

New England Winter Forecast

Just days ago, news dropped from AccuWeather that New England is in for a brutal winter, with up to four times the amount of snow this winter than last. Which, if you're big on skiing, snowboarding, or tubing -- you're living your best life and already salivating for all the fresh powder to fall.

If you're not one of the above, but instead hate the cold, hate the snow, and just hate the winter and everything it stands for in general, well, you're already miserable with anticipation.

And, unfortunately, for most, that misery is going to either intensify or at least jump-start in the coming weeks. Because it's getting to be about that time.

Daylight Savings Time Ends on Sunday, November 5, 2023

For those that thrive during Fall, they are living their best lives right now, because we're right in the sweet spot of the season. We're entering the weeks where peak foliage is running wild throughout Maine and New Hampshire, the mornings may be chilly but it still warms up enough to a comfortable temperature, and it's officially hoodie and shorts/hoodie and leggings season.

And if the entirety of Fall was like that, there probably wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, life (and the rotating ball we live on) doesn't work like that.

Because in the overnight hours of Saturday, November 4, 2023 into Sunday, November 5, 2023, the event that begins sucking the life out of all of us comes to pass -- Daylight Savings Time ends, and we "fall back."

Sure, it's great to gain an hour of sleep, but is that one night of an extra hour of sleep worth what feels like 50 years of seasonal depression? Because after that extra hour of sleep has come and gone, we're left with 4-5 months of darkness at 4p, a cold chill in the air, and eventual subzero temperatures.

Absolute and complete misery (for most.)

So, enjoy the daylight while we still have it, because we're officially on the road to seasonal depression, as we've officially seen the final sunset after 6p in both Maine and New Hampshire for about another six months.
