Update: Portland, Maine in the Final Four for Best Bus Stop in the USA
A very cool bus stop in Portland has made it to the final four level for Best Bus Stops in America. The bus stop is on Congress Street in front of Mechanics Hall. The Portland Bus Stop is up against a bus stop in Juneau, Alaska, and if we win will go to the FINALS! Vote now for Portland to get us in the Finals. It's Bus Stop Madness! The contest is being put on by the folks at Streetblog.

Creative Portland, the city's official non-profit arts agency, recently upgraded several bus stops around town. The one that is nominated from Portland was created for Creative Portland by Maine resident and Ghana-born Ebenezer Akakpo, who uses patterns composed of his native country’s Adinkra symbols in his design.

Dinah Minot, the executive director of the nonprofit Creative Portland, which helped spearhead the contest said:
“GP Metro, the transit provider, is very supportive of the art installations and agree that the community benefits outweigh the potential revenues from ads on the shelters. Reducing the stigma of riding a bus and spotlighting public transit through the arts has been a positive result of the creative bus shelter initiative.”
