As more and more people around the world discover Portland, Maine and come here to live or visit, more and more construction begins to develop hotels and condominiums on the peninsula. Not everyone thinks that's a good thing though. One construction site got a spray painted message this week from someone who isn't a fan.

In November of 2016, Deering Lumber sold their lumber yard on the corner of Commercial and High Streets after 162 years in business at that location. The property had just become too valuable to say no when out-of-state developers offered millions of dollars for the land with a plan to build high-end condominiums on the site.

The development is named Hobson's Landing and will have 1 to 3 bedroom condos ranging from $395,000 to $850,000, prices not aimed at most Mainers. Construction should be completed in the summer of 2020.

With this construction, a hotel built next door several years ago and yet another hotel announced to begin construction next door to that, one person shared their opinion on all the development in this area of the city.
