This video below will likely tug at your heartstrings and even bring tears, but please know that the bear, who was clearly suffering from major injuries, was rescued by the Massachusetts State Police along with the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

WBZ-TV Boston says the hurt bear was stuck in a grassy median between both directions of Interstate 495 south of Boston near the Bridgewater-Raynham line.

I was just scrolling through Instagram when I saw this video pop up on their site, and it just broke my heart. Clearly this poor bear is suffering, with many comments thinking he or she was hit by car.

I started crying and followed the story for about an hour-and-a-half, so I'm relieved that this story ended with a safe rescue.

According to WBZ, drivers noticed the injured bear dragging his back legs, barely able to stand, and looking frightened.  Many drivers pulled off onto the side of the highway, and 9-1-1 calls poured in as people kept an eye on the bear.

Massachusetts State Police and Environmental Police monitored the bear's movements in the grassy median as it moved in and out of the woods between the lanes.

Massachusetts State Troopers shut down traffic in both directions while trying to get the bear to come out.

WBZ says that the Environmental Police were eventually able to sedate the bear, load it into the back of a truck, and drive it away safely.

The outpouring of concern for this bear's suffering has people hoping that the animal will receive medical care and not just be put down.
