Of all the birds in Maine with calls that are pleasant to hear, none quite compares to the loon. Something about that sound is just calming.

When a loon was found on the side of I-95 by a driver, State Police called the game warden. It turned out the loon wasn't injured. It was just a little too far from water.

With the help of police, the loon was transported to Etna Pond and released. But the best part is when the bird gets back in the water to familiar surroundings, it gives its signature call, almost as if to say "Thank you."
