According to a tweet from the Maine Department of Transportation at about 4:15 p.m. Monday, Interstate 295 was closed in both directions at mile marker 15 near Yarmouth because of a vehicle fire.

The Maine Turnpike Authority tweeted out at 5:10 p.m. that lanes were reopen in both directions but to expect delays.

The Portland Press Herald reported that a vehicle had caught fire in the southbound lane near Yarmouth Monday afternoon.

Dan Lampariello of WGME tweeted out an image and video of the fire.

The Press Herald stated initially that "all southbound traffic was being diverted off Exit 17 in Yarmouth and northbound traffic was diverted off the interstate as well while firefighters worked to put the fire out."

Thankfully, no injuries were reported, according to the MDOT.

Expect major delays and proceed with caution if you are driving in the area.
