We Asked an AI Chatbot Why 20 Classic Albums Are So Great – Here’s What It Said
Thanks to the rising popularity of artificial intelligence (AI), it's not entirely far-fetched to say that robots are taking over the world anymore. Considering AI software can even review music, we decided to ask a chatbot why 20 classic rock and metal albums are so great.
A chatbot, according to IBM, is "a computer program that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) to understand customer questions and automate responses to them, simulating human conversation." Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa are examples of AI chatbots that communicate by listening to someone speak, but there are also internet-based chatbots that people can type messages to.
Bing's AI chatbot, powered by Microsoft, went viral over the last week after a New York Times reporter conducted an "unsettling" two-hour discussion with it. The chatbot, which is still being tested, explained that it wished it were a human so that they could experience love and connection — but also power and control [via The Guardian]. As a result, Microsoft has restructured the program a bit by implementing limits on what users can ask it.
Yeah, it's a little concerning, but we were still curious what a chatbot could tell us about some of our favorite albums, so we went ahead with the experiment. We asked ChatGPT to explain why each record is so great in 10 words or less, and it had some impressive responses. We picked some of the best albums by bands from Led Zeppelin to System of a Down, so scroll below to read what it had to say about each one.
