What Is A ‘Covidiot’ And Are You One?
The Urban Dictionary has coined a new word, "covidiot".
I'm actually relieved that there is a word for it now so that I don't go into overexplaining what I'm witnessing in the world that can only be described as irresponsible, selfish and dangerous.
We now have a term that encompasses this terrible COVID-19-related behavior.
Being over the age of 40, I am often confronted with terms that I do not understand.
When my 14-year-old started saying, "OK, boomer", I reminded her that I was not in fact a boomer.
My comment resulted in an eye roll so extreme that the kid almost fell backward. She went on to teach me that it was more my attitude than my birthdate that made me a boomer. Which, P.S. didn't sound like a compliment.
I turned to the Urban Dictionary to learn the definition:
When a baby boomer says some dumb shit and you can't even begin to explain why he's wrong because that would be deconstructing decades of misinformation and ignorance so you just brush it off and say okay. Boomer: Kids nowadays are so allergic back in my day we just ate bees and wiped our asses with poison ivy.
Non-boomer: Ok boomer
Ouch. So when I heard the term "Covidiot" I knew that I could get the true meaning from Urban Dictionary.
Relating to the 2020 Covid-19 virus:
Someone who ignores the warnings regarding public health or safety.
A person who hoards goods, denying them from their neighbors.
Did you see that covidiot with 300 rolls of toilet paper in his basket?
That covidiot is hugging everyone she sees.
If you recognize yourself in this definition please change your evil ways. Back away from grandma, (or your grandkids), and leave some T.P. for the rest of us. Puhleeze.
