What’s The Meaning Behind Cat Graffiti In a Sanford, Maine Park?
A bizarre thing is happening in Sanford and the Police Department is trying to find out who is behind it.
Someone or several someones, spray painted pictures of cats all over Benton Park overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Some may think the third-grade-level artwork of pink-colored cats with a symbol that looks like a warning light on your car dashboard are cute, but pure and simple, this is vandalism. It's something that has occurred several times in the park over the summer according to police.
Sanford Police posted the pictures of the graffiti sprayed in the park on their Facebook page Thursday asking for the public's help in finding who is responsible. Vandals tagged pavement, sidewalks, rocks, signs and even the center of the basketball court.
Curious minds want to know what the odd graffiti means. A cat with a warning symbol most commonly seen on a car dashboard when something is broken? That doesn't really make any sense, so if the vandals were trying to send a message, it likely went over the heads of most of us.
Police are planning to send a message back to them and need your help finding how is behind the pink warning cats. Police ask if you see something, say something. If you have any info the Office Rae of Sanford Police Department would like to talk with you. You can call 324-9170 ext. 154.
