Most of us only dream of being able to hire someone to come in and clean our houses for us each week. However, that dream doesn't usually involve the housekeeper moving into your home unannounced with a friend and then stealing your personal belongings. Well, for a Belgrade Maine man, that's exactly what happened.

According to the Kennebec Journal, Edmund King had recently posted a Craigslist ad as he was looking for someone to do some cleaning at his Belgrade home. King has a home on Salmon Lake that he rents out as he lives in Florida for much of the year.

Back in June of this year, King became concerned when a neighbor of his Belgrade home sent him a recorded clip of a woman appearing to come and go from his garage. It then became apparent to King that some of his items were also missing from the home.

King told the Kennebec Journal, “She went into my garage and stole an antique pistol given to me 40 or 50 years ago, a leaf blower and two chainsaws. I’m a very honest man, I didn’t think she’d do something like this.”

King said he was frustrated with the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office because they had not pressed charged. However according to KSO officials, they've done everything they can. The woman claims she was in a civil agreement with King to stay at the house for three days. KSO also says that because there were rental tenants there near the time of the alleged incident, there's no current way to prove the woman stole anything.

Sadly, this is a classic case of he said/she said with no real way (at least yet) to determine what actually happened. We'll keep this story updated if new details become available.
