A woman was struck and killed on Yarmouth Road in Gray last evening.  Windham and Gorham Police along with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department are still investigating, but it looks like it could be an alleged OUI incident.

From the Cumberland County Sheriff's Report:

On Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 7:46 pm, The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Gray Fire / Rescue responded to a Motor Vehicle Crash by 39 Yarmouth Road in Gray.

It was reported that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. Upon arrival, a female age 40 was unresponsive in the roadway. She was transported to Maine Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. The female was identified as Samantha Rinaldi of Gray.

The vehicle was a silver 2015 Honda Civic. The driver of the vehicle was Jay Westra, age 58 of North Yarmouth. Mr. Westra was arrested at the scene by Deputy Ben Schaeffer for operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor and transported to the Cumberland County Jail. Mr. Westra’s 11-year-old daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
