Yoga Outside at Maine’s Bug Light Is Back This Weekend
I've been thinking about getting back into a yoga class lately. It's something I used to do in my 30s. Yessh, that was a ways back now. At a recent check-up, my doctor asked if I had any concerns. I told her that my quads on the right side were hurtin'. She asked if I had a foam roller? Yup. I do. It's deep somewhere in the bedroom closet. I try to keep it away from me. That thing hurts!
I know, I know. What do i prefer...the pain of foam rolling or the pain of not foam rolling? The other thing she suggested was doing some yoga. Again. What do I prefer...the pain of doing yoga or the pain of not doing yoga? I'm pretty sure I know what the answer is.
These days there are so many different way to take a yoga class. There's beer yoga, goat yoga and of course what I like to call, scenic Maine postcard yoga. How does enjoying the beautiful vistas at Bug Light Park in South Portland sound?
According to her website, if the weather cooperates this Sunday will kick off the 4th annual season of outdoor yoga in the fresh, salty air. The classes are led by popular Portland yoga teacher Kelly Rich. According to her website, if the weather cooperates this Sunday 5/5 will kick off the 4th annual season of outdoor yoga in the fresh, salty air. The first session is scheduled to start at 10am.
And it's the first of plenty of chances for us join in, stretch and breathe. Classes will be on the calendar on Sundays at 10am also on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6pm right through mid September. All the classes are obviously subject to the weather and cost $9 to $15.
Okay. I'm gonna go dig through the closet for my foam roller and maybe I'll see you there.
