The Guru

On February 23, 1967, across the Great Pond at Abbey Road Studios, The Beatles were recording "Lovely Rita" for Sgt. Pepper... Meanwhile, at The Augusta General Hospital, Brian James let out his first cry to world. 20 years later in the summer of '87, Brian played "Lovely Rita" on the radio station he grew up with, WBLM. Taking over the Night Flight for the Captain, who moved to host The WBLM Morning Show, a teenage dream was realized. Brian "The Guru" James is a dyed-in-wool Mainah. In the 80's at Cony High School, He had a different colored Blimp t-shirt for each day of the week. A WBLM Loyal listener who ended up making the team. Pretty frickin' sweet bub! The Guru has been rockin' Blimpville for over 25 years and has hosted The Afternoon Express for nearly a decade. When he not rockin' live with BLM, he's rockin' at home in Westbrook with his wife Sherry, and sons, Sam and Carter. Rip it hahd weekday afternoons at work and on the way home!! Like him on Facebook! Dave Gutter’s Bowie Eulogy [VIDEO]

First thing after getting up on Monday morning, I did what I always do. I got the Keurig going and checked Facebook on my phone. There was a notification that Greg Martens had written on my wall. It read, "I can't think of David Bowie without thinking of you Brian James."  I figured he was reminiscing about an infamous BLM concert caravan we were on together 26 years ago with Bowie's birthday and new album being a hot topic over the weekend.

What a Week for the “Funniest Hardware Store in America”! [VIDEOS]

When I got back from the holiday break this past Monday, I came across some wacky videos from the self proclaimed "Funniest Hardware Store in America". The series features neighbors being saved from unfortunate moments by the small town store that has everything you need from "rocket powered skateboards" to "buckets of steam". The videos are blowin' up on Facebook and You Tube and the folks at Bowdoinham Hardware now have fans not only from Maine, but from all over the planet.
