Herb considers himself luckiest guy in the world to be able to captain one of the greatest rock stations in the USA! That's why the call him "The Captain," right? He's been on the Blimp for over 30 years, and no two days have ever been the same. He calls Blimp listeners “friends I’ve never met,” and it’s true as they share a common bond of living in Maine and a passion for Rock and Roll. He also enjoys working with so many local charities and businesses as well. He's wicked proud to represent Townsquare Media as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Maine Association of Broadcasters and as a board member of NESCom at Husson University.

In Pursuit! Maine Police Found Out Just How Crazy Fast This Motorcycle Could Go
Police in Maine were in hot pursuit of the rider of this sweet ride over the weekend. It all started with a traffic stop by State Trooper Tyler Nadeau on Route 202 in Greene. The trooper had tried to stop some bikers who were driving aggressively. During the stop, Trooper Nadeau noticed that one of the bikes did not have a registration plate. That's when the rider, Devin Jeselskis of Lewiston. allegedly took off at high speed.
It’s Happening Maine! Fenway Park Announces 2021 Concert Series
We had a bunch of concert announcements this week in New England. You remember concerts...when we all get together and go crazy with our favorite musicians? Making incredible memories with friends and sometimes, complete strangers! Rescheduled shows and some new shows have been announced at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, The Bank of NH Pavilion in Gilford, Rock Row in Westbrook, and Darling's Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor. And today the Boston Red Sox announces their Summer Concert Series. All of these Fenway dates are make-up dates from 2020. I hope you held on to your tickets! All the shows are tentative based on how the pandemic goes. But the fact that we may actually see LIVE MUSIC this summer warms my heart.
Bring On The Warm Weather! The Municipal Beach is Open Again in Auburn, Maine
One of the many unfortunate things of this pandemic has been the closing of public parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields all over Maine. Last March, the City of Auburn closed Lake Grove Park on Lake Auburn. Today, the Auburn Rec Department gave us all the green light-the park is OPEN!
Kids From Maine Helped Make The #1 Song In the USA
Maine can now boast of being part of a #1 record in the USA!
Maine music students are part of the new song by the rock band The Pretty Reckless. This past winter, thanks to The Halo studio, and Jonathan Wyman, Maine Academy of Modern Music students were invited to sing on "And So It Went", the latest single by The Pretty Reckless. It gets even cooler because also featured on the track with the MAMM students is Tom Morello, the guitarist from Rage Against The Machine.
What Is Portland’s Most Diverse Neighborhood?
I saw this great sign driving up Forest Avenue n Portland yesterday.
In light of the events in Minnesota this week, seeing this sign warmed my heart. Portland's diversity is what makes it such a world-class city. And it got me wondering.

Portland Artists Brighten Downtown Street Closures
If you've been in downtown Portland recently, you know that the City has shut down some streets to better accommodate downtown restaurants and shopping during the pandemic. It's all very cool, but one byproduct of this move has been the somewhat ugly concrete barriers blocking the streets. Creative Portland, the city's official non-profit arts agency, to the rescue! Creative Portland has hired five Maine artists to create beautifully designed covers for these barricades. The art not only brightens the barricades but also touts Portland's COVID-19 health messages.
Listen To Tom Caron’s First Interview After Getting Into The Maine Sports Hall of Fame

Happy 420 Maine-Let’s Play “Weed or Steed?”
Happy 420 Maine. Did you all leave out cookies and milk for Willie Nelson last night? Good. We would like to invite you to have some 420 fun with us and play "Weed or Steed?' You read it right. This is the kind of stuff we come up with reallllllllly late at night for the WBLM Morning Show. It occurred to us that the creative names for the different strains of pot are somewhat similar to the creative names people come up with for racehorses. And in honor of 420 in 2021, we thought we would launch a little game we like to call WEED....OR...STEED?
This Portland Bridge Was Up, So These Ladies Decided to Have a Rollerblading Adventure on It
There's nothing worse than getting stuck on the Casco Bay Bridge in Portland. Why does it always go up when I'm in a wicked big rush to get somewhere? I was stuck on the bridge this week and was catching up on some emails while I waited for the big ship to pass under when I heard the squeals of laughter. I looked up and saw two rollerbladers skating around on the bridge. Of course, because the bridge was up, there was no traffic hazard for the skaters to worry about, so they had the whole bridge to themselves. There is a walking/bike/rollerblading path o the bridge, but these two decided to go next-level and take over the whole road. It was pretty funny, and they seemed to be having a great time. Nice moves, ladies
Yes, That Actually Was A Parade You Saw In Portland Today
Who was behind today's parade in Portland? We can thanks the great students, teachers, and staff at the Levey Day School, a Pre-K to 7th-grade independent school in Portland, who were celebrating Israel's 73rd Independence Day - Yom Ha’Atzmaut - with a small parade through the neighborhood. The students led the march while wearing Israel’s national colors and waved flags they made in their art classes. What a great thing!
Update on Animal Cruelty Case in Portland-Dog Has Been Rescued and In Safe Custody
We have an update on that animal cruelty case that came to light yesterday. A horrible video was circulating on Facebook yesterday, showing a Portland resident tripping over, pulling, and kicking a dog. Portland Police identified and charged the person but could not make contact with them or be able to check on the pup's condition. The good news today is that the dog has been taken from its owner and is safe and sound.

Start Dreaming About Staying at This Maine Luxury Lakefront Compound This Summer
We are all dreaming about a vacation this summer. A REAL vacation. Not one where we are stuck at home in the cul de sac and only come out and see other human beings at Happy Hour each day. I mean a real vacation.
Is It Me or Are Mainers Driving Really Poorly These Days?
Is it me or are Maine drivers really off their game these days? I live on a busy intersection, and in the past 24 hours, I have seen people blow through stoplights, a couple of stop signs, and go the wrong way down One Way streets. I have also seen horrendous parking jobs. We need to turn this around people!
