This weekend I leave for a trip to northern Maine -- Stockholm to be exact. It's a five hour ride in a stuffy van with the guys and we'll be cycling through A LOT of music on the drive. I'll be heading up to play a two night bill at the Eureka Music Hall with ShaShaSha.

This got me thinking...What are some quintessential road-trip songs? Obviously everyone will have a different opinion on this, but for the sake of starting the conversation, I'll make a list. Feel free to comment and post your own Top 10 in the comments.

Here are my current Top 10 Road Trip Songs:

  1. Philadelphia Freedom - Elton John
  2. Running Down a Dream - Tom Petty
  3. I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash
  4. Friend of The Devil - Grateful Dead
  5. Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco
  6. Abacab - Genesis
  7. Are You a Hypnotist??  - The Flaming Lips
  8. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
  9. Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
  10. Where Have All The Good People Gone - Sam Roberts

These are in no particular order, but you best believe I'll be spinning them on the road tomorrow.  Have a great weekend!
