That's me, the Guru on the left with John and Scott Lindsay in the audience for Extreme at the State Theatre last Saturday night! As you can see, we were pretty pumped. We all went to Cony together in the 80's. It's always so cool to run into old friends at a rock show.

I went wondering how good the show would be. It's been a long, long time for Extreme.

When the opening piano of Decadence Dance started playing followed by Nuno Bettencourt's heavy, funky opening riff, I no longer wondered and was strapped in for the night. They played their 1990 album Extreme II Pornograffitti from start to finish and it was really great! Gary Cherone's voice is still strong, as is bassist Pat Badger's. When Nuno joins Pat and Gary for harmonies it's magic. The faithful fans in the audience loudly gave Extreme the love and respect they deserve. Also worth noting, often as I looked around lots of Blimpsters knew the words to every song...very cool.

Here's a photo of Extreme performing Hole Hearted. Of course being New England guys like us, they dedicated it to the Patriots!

Nuno and Gary doing More Than Words...they brought up a beautiful young couple named Randy and Kate to the stage for this one too. Nuno noticed that Randy was holding up a sign that read, "She said YES!" and invited them up for the rest of the song. They were cuddled up, very much in love and were probably about the same age as Pornograffitti.

The whole band was great. But I gotta say, this guy below had my attention most of the night with his amazing guitar pyrotechnics!

NUNO!!!! This guy doesn't age.
