According to the Bangor Daily News, police were called to the scene after 1am on Saturday morning when witnesses reported seeing a group of friends attempting to remove a sign from Bee Jay's Tavern. The Tavern had closed for good at the end of June and the group of guys felt like the sign, considering its name, would make the perfect souvenir.

All five men involved in the attempted theft were charged and the sign was returned to the owners of the property.
