Arthur T. Demoulas, the former CEO of Market Basket, was making his final bid to buy the supermarket chain as thousands of workers continue to push the board of directors to reinstate him in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts and the company continues to lose millions of dollars, according to the Boston Globe.

The daily newspaper reported Friday that Market Basket’s board of directors was scheduled to meet Saturday. Meanwhile, the newspaper reported that Delhaize Group SA, the parent of Hannaford supermarkets, is also trying to buy the company. Market Basket workers have staged protests to reinstage Demoulas for five weeks.

So far, previous efforts to end the dispute have not succeeded.
