As if having a pandemic going on isn't enough stress, now we are home-schooling our children. I have discovered that despite my high school diploma, I have a second grade math education. I do not understand Common Core, do not try to explain it to me because I just get upset.

Do all fourth grade teachers graduate from Harvard? Thank God Mark is younger than me and understands the "new math" that has been around for decades. Mark is the homework parent. Except for now. See, I'm at home while he's working. Home where the home schooling is happening.

I don't know how to get into the online classroom or where assignments are. I have to take the word of my fourth grader and eighth grader that they are getting it done.

This is an embarassing, humbling process and my bartending certificate has left me woefully underprepared to help educate my own kids. My girl, Dina Burley, sent this video to me over the weekend because she gets where I'm at.

Brandolyln Shropshire has let me know that I am not alone. Amen sister. Let us pray...

Brandalyn is the Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and she is a professional stand up comic on weekends and she is my spirit animal. Brandalyn has a 9-year-old daughter who leaves the refrigerator door open and is studying Common Core. They say that comedy comes from pain. Wanna' hear a knock knock joke?
