Sawadee ka! That means, "Hello" in Thai. We visited Mark's family in Nahant, Massachusetts and Sabelle got a Master Cooking Class from Mark's Auntie. The last time we visited she made us a traditional Thai rice porridge called Kao Tom. Sabelle loved it so much that she asked for some time with Auntie to learn how to make it. This is like Thai soul food. It is warm and flavorful, yet mild. It's what you want to eat when you are sick or when you crave comfort food. It's the equivalent of chicken noodle soup in many ways. It starts with jasmine rice, made with water and chicken bullion, she added shredded chicken. Sabelle kicked me out of the kitchen, so I don't know what comes next!

When it was done, Auntie sprinkled it with white pepper, fried garlic and scallions. I added the shrimp! Arroy mak mak! (very, very delicious!)

Sabelle wouldn't let me record her cooking class, but I did find this video on YouTube. The recipe is different than the one that Auntie made, but it still looks delicious!
