Mainer’s Turning Left on Red. An Accident Waiting to Happen?

According to the Sun Journal, the state is considering a new proposal that would allow drivers to turn left on red.

That's dumb. Are we so impatient that we can't wait at a red light?! I'm already quaking in my boots at every green light that I approach, hoping that someone won't run their red and T-bone me!

Right on red doesn't require potentially crossing oncoming traffic by crossing another lane.

That's my rant. Wherever you are going, whoever you are, it's just not that important that you can't take a pause at a red light for the sake of safety.
