Metal is often overlooked when it comes to the Grammy Awards telecast, which is why the latest addition to the 59th Annual Grammy Awards should be a welcome announcement to metal-loving fans. Metallica have been invited to perform on the show, which will take place Sunday, Feb. 12 and will air at 8PM ET on CBS.

Metallica revealed the news in a posting on their website that reads: “First, it was a total honor to be nominated, but now this?!!? We’re beyond excited that we have been invited to perform on the 59th annual Grammy Awards telecast on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. It’s been three years since we were lucky enough to participate in the awards show when we last performed with world-renowned Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang and we’re thrilled to be asked back.”

They added, “We have something very unique and special planned for this celebratory night, so tune in to watch on CBS-TV… check those local listings for your timezone and keep watching here for more information.”

Even though they are one of the most celebrated bands in metal history, Metallica actually earned their Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song, as “Hardwired” will square off against tracks from David Bowie, Radiohead, Twenty One Pilots and Highly Suspect in a rather diverse category.

In other Metallica news, after recently releasing pro-shot footage of the concert debut of their song “Now That We’re Dead,” which took place during their recent concert in Seoul, South Korea, they’ve also now posted pro-shot footage of “Halo on Fire” from the same show. Watch it in the player provided below.
