When people from away come to enjoy our beautiful state, they are often surprised,(and disappointed), by how early we roll up the streets and call it a night. Maine bars close at 1 a.m., much earlier than most parts of the country. Governor LePage is proposing a pilot program, allowing bars to stay open until 2 a.m. through Columbus Day to serve tourists who are used to later closing hours in their home states.

What do you think? Should Maine bars stay open until 2 a.m. during tourist season?
