The Boston Red Sox were able to salvage the finale of the three game set with the Blue Jays by winning the game 5-3 in extra innings.

Clay Buchholz made his first relief appearance since being demoted to the bullpen and earned his third win of the year.  He pitched a scoreless inning in the 10th inning before Koji Uehara was able to close the door in the 11th for his first save of the year.

Dustin Pedroia gave the Sox the lead on a ground-rule double in the 11th and Xander Bogaerts added an insurance run on a sacrifice to give Boston the lead for good.  Bogaerts also was able to extend his hitting streak to 22 games with a hit earlier in the contest.

David Price received the no-decision with 6.1 innings pitched, allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks.  He lowered his ERA to 5.11 for the year.

David Ortiz did not play in the game with a sore foot and x-rays he received before the contest came back negative for the Sox designated hitter.

Boston now has a one game advantage on the Baltimore Orioles in the American league East heading into a four game road series at Camden Yards starting on Monday afternoon.
