12/27/1969 (47 years ago today) - "Led Zeppelin II" hits No. 1 on the Billboard LP charts, the first time (and the first of many to come) that the band hit the top in both America and England, with six million copies breezily selling in the U.S. alone!

12/27/1975 (41 years ago today) - The Staple Singers go to No. 1 with the smoky-funkalicious single "Let's Do It Again". It's the second chart-topper for the family who have got to be one of the most underrated recording outfits of all time. We recommend you go back and re-discover The Staple Singers, they were freakin' excellent-plus!!!

12/27/1980 (36 years ago today) - Simultaneously, John and Yoko's "Double Fantasy" album starts eight weeks at No. 1, while "(Just Like) Starting Over" kicks off five weeks at No. 1 on the singles chart.
