2/22/1967 (49 years ago today) - Just trying to imagine what it could have possibly been like at London's Abbey Road studios on this date: in one studio, you've got Pink Floyd recording tracks for their debut album "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn"; in another studio, The Beatles are working on the ending of "A Day In The Life" for the "Sgt. Pepper" LP. It doesn't get much cooler (or psychedelic) than this...

2/22/1975 (41 years ago today) - They were from Scotland and the sax playing on this song is some of the funkiest ever laid down, so... what the Sam Hill is goin' on here?: The Average White Band went to No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart with the beyond-infectious dance classic "Pick Up The Pieces". Just one of the era's greatest three minutes, no question. (The band's self-titled debut album will also hit the No. 1 spot a few weeks later.) It's the definition of "wicked catchy"...

2/22/1978 (38 years ago today) - Ahead-of-the-game, sell-out-wise, and nobody really cared...: The Police appear in Wrigley's Gum commercial (for North American TV only, supposedly). This is when all three members dyed their hair blonde simultaneously. Art for art's sake?
