7/14/1962 (53 years ago today) - The Beatles played their first ever show in Wales at The Regent Dansette in Rhyl. Ticket cost? $0.70!!!

7/14/1967 (48 years ago today) - In what's gotta be one of the strangest double-bills since Jimi Hendrix opened for The Monkees: how about The Who kicking off their first North American tour at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon (oh, the days when venue names were not sponsored; we miss that!). Yeah, the thing is The Who were the warm-up act for headliners Herman's Hermits!!! Seriously...

7/14/1977 (38 years ago today) - Elvis Costello And The Attractions make their live debut at The Empire in London. They are the openers for Wayne County & The Electric Chairs, a punk band from New York fronted by a transgender woman from Georgia -- Wayne County would later change his/her name to Jayne County.

7/14/1988 (27 years ago today) - Michael Jackson gets in the Guinness Book of World Records (again?!?!) by setting a new attendance record when he plays the first of seven nights at London's Wembley Stadium. The "Bad" World Tour shows here totaled 504,000 fans, beating out the previous record of four sold-out nights with Genesis. Can't get more '80's than this...
