6/15/1963 (53 years ago today) - Before The Beatles hit our radios, we were more or less stuck with goofball s--t like this: the one and only Kyu Sakamoto started a three week run at No. 1 here in America with the single "Sukiyaki", the first ever Japanese song to do so. What can we tell you...

6/15/1977 (39 years ago today) - No such thing as bad publicity, lesson no. 22: The Sex Pistols held a party on a boat as it sailed down The River Thames in London, followed by a performance of "Anarchy In The U.K." just outside The Houses of Parliament which (surprise!) resulted in members of the party being arrested when the boat docked later that day!

6/15/1985 (31 years ago today) - Dire Straits begin a nine week reign at No. 1 here in the U.S. with their fifth studio release, the "Brothers In Arms" album; it not only ends up ranking as the seventh best selling LP in British chart history, it also becomes one of the most successful albums in history -- period! "Money For Nothing", "Walk Of Life", "The Man's Too Strong", "So Far Away" and the title track still get played on the air around the world every day -- at last count, over 30 million copies have been sold. It also went to No. 1 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden and Turkey. Yowza!!!
