5/13/1970 (46 years ago today) - Coming out just after the album, this was to be the final original Beatles release: The world premiere of the "Let It Be" film took place in New York City, the highlight being that "unplanned" rooftop performance, the very last time The Beatles would go live in public. As such, it is considered "The Holy Grail" of all The Beatles stuff that has yet to be re-released on Blue Ray DVD, etc...They're gonna keep us waiting and waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah.

5/13/1988 (28 years ago today) - Is it possible that it's really been almost thirty years?: Bon Jovi went to No. 1 here in the U.S. with "I'll Be There For You", their fourth No. 1 single, one of five Billboard Hot 100 Top Ten singles off the "New Jersey" album (by the way, that's the most top ten hits to date for any hard rock LP). Also worth noting: "New Jersey" hit No. 1 in America in its second week of release, as well as debuting at the No. 1 spot in the U.K.; it was also the first American album ever officially sanctioned for release in the Soviet Union!

5/13/1945 - Happy Birthday to The J. Geils Band harmonica master Magic Dick, 71 years old today, along with the bands longtime/founding member bassist Daniel Klein, who's turning 72. Watch the band totally kill it here in 1972:
