11/21/1960 (56 years ago today) - Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs go to No. 1 with the classic single "Stay"; at just one minute 37 seconds, it's (likely) the shortest-ever song to top the chart. Other contenders: Elvis' "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear" (1957) clocked in at 1:46, and The Box Tops' "The Letter" (1967) was 1:55, give or take (hey, fade-outs are kinda tricky, aren't they?)...

11/21/1974 (42 years ago today) - Ah, the good old days when soul artists committed crimes...why, when I was growing up...etc., etc.: Wilson Pickett was arrested in New York City for "possession of a dangerous weapon" after he pulled a gun during an argument. The Big Apple in '74, different times...

11/21/1941 - Born on this day, Memphis, Tennessee saxophone legend Andrew Love, best known for being a member of The Memphis Horns. With fellow musician Wayne Jackson on trumpet, they created the fantastic-and-super-catchy Stax studios signature horn sound that graced many of the greatest all-time classics (deep breath, now): Al Green's "Let's Stay Together", Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", Elvis' "Suspicious Minds", Dusty Springfield's "Son Of A Preacher Man", Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On)The Dock Of The Bay",  U2's "Angel Of Harlem" and Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" (keep in mind that this is barely a partial list!). In 2002, Andrew was forced into retirement after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's; he passed away in 2012 at age 70. One of the best.
