9/25/1969 (46 years ago today) - John Lennon records "Cold Turkey" with a band consisting of Eric Clapton (guitar), Klaus Voorman (bass), Ringo (drums) and Yoko (...er, whatever). Originally John presented the song to Paul as a potential Beatles single, but McCartney nixed the idea, so John ended up releasing it under the band name "Plastic Ono Band" with sole writing credits to him. We get it. "Mine!"

9/25/1976 (39 years ago today) - Paul McCartney & Wings perform a charity concert in St. Marks Square, Venice, to raise funds for preservation purposes for the beautiful, historic city. The show was a critically acclaimed success; it wasn't until afterwards that the city council learned the weight of the equipment used by the group actually caused more damage to the square. We get it. Irony...
