Summertime is finally hitting Portland, Maine. Well, for now at least. You never know what the weather in New England will do, but as of now, it seems like we've finally rounded the winter corner. Let's be honest, what pairs better with summertime than a good cream or frozen yogurt run?

According to Yelp.com and their reviews, Mount Desert Island which is located at 51 Exchange St, in Portland, is the first choice.

1. Mount Desert Island
Nora A. on Yelp says, "“I enjoyed the very friendly service and samples, then settled on Maine Sea Salt Caramel and Blueberry Sour Cream".

2. Gorgeous Gelato
Jane G on Yelp says, "The baristas are always sweet, and the owner, Donato, is an exceedingly kind man who you can tell takes pride in his business and products".

3. Maine Maple Creme Co.
This one is a "twist" (no pun intended). They don't have a main storefront, but they do have an "ice-cream" truck, so to say.
Alyssa N. on Yelp says, "Their "regular" is the maple soft serve (or creamee if you like) and it is smooth and slightly sweet. Do yourself a favor and get it in a special cone. If they are partnering with someone to do a special topping, GET THAT!!"

Truthfully, one of my favorite places to grab a soft serve cone is Red's in South Portland, but I'm excited to try these "healthier" ice cream places this summer.
