The now-defunct Scarborough Downs racetrack was known as one of the great harness racing tracks in America. But did you know that The Downs also hosted some pretty amazing concerts in its history? You might be surprised by who came to Scarborough! There are not a ton of shows (we count 6), but they were all high-caliber artists that ran the gamut of music genres. From country to metal to hip-hop, The Downs saw it all!

Here's a list of every concert at Scarborough Downs:

July 25, 1978- Rock Festival with Blue Oyster Cult / British Lions / Dr. Hook  / Alvin Lee / UFO.

Wow, now that's a pretty interesting lineup! I bet that show scared the horses...and the residents, of Scarborough!

August 13, 1980-Black Sabbath and Sammy Hagar

Wait. What? Black Sabbath played in Scarborough? Yup. This is when the late, great Ronnie James Dio was in the band (not Ozzy). And little did we know the heights that the Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, would rise to! If you go to the clubhouse on a quiet night....and are very still....you can still hear the concert reverberating through the trees of Scarborough. Ha!

July 17, 2011-Country Festival with Blake Shelton / Brad Paisley / Jerrod Niemann / Eden's Edge / The Janedear Girls / Sunny Sweeny.

Jul 31, 2012 -Hip Hop Festival with Wiz Khalifa / Mac Miller / Kendrick Lamar / Chiddy Bang / ScHoolboy Q / Chevy Woods. Nothing beats The Wiz!

August 10, 2012- Five Finger Death Punch/ Killswitch Engage /  Trivium

Sep 7, 2012- ZZ Top / Lynyrd Skynyrd / The Cadillac Black. The last show was a doozy!

NOTE: All these shows were outside. We have heard about some shows inside the Clubhouse as well. Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Helen Reddy come to mind. If you have the month/year and artist information on any Clubhouse concerts at Scarborough Downs, then we can complete our list.  Contact me at herb.ivy@townsquaremedia.com. Thanks, and long live Scarborough Downs!
