Full disclosure here, I am on a plant-based diet. However my wife's side of the family like many here in Maine, are avid hunters. It's just not something I personally take part in. But I get it and respect those who choose to.

The 2020 Moose permit lottery will be here before you know it. If want to part of the hunt next fall, registration starts today at maine.gov.  The deadline for applications is on May 14.

This is always a mad dash. It seems that every year there are way more Mainers who want the permits than end up being granted. So we figured if you wanted in, we let you know that now is the time to get on it.

According to the Bangor Daily News

"The exact number of permits that will be available has not yet been determined by Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife staffers, but prospective hunters are invited to apply via the internet for the popular drawing. In 2019 a total of 2,820 moose permits were allotted."

The article also reveals,

"The lottery drawing will be held June 13 at Sky Lodge in Jackman."
