It was just a few weeks ago, April 26th to be exact, that we were gifted by a super moon.  The April 2021 super moon was kind of special, actually.  It was a pink super moon!

Now, we're getting another one!

According to WMTW, our second supermoon of the year will rise later this month.

The supermoon will be at its brightest from Tuesday, May 25th into Wednesday, May 26th.  If you want to get really specific, it will be at its brightest at 7:14 AM (Eastern Time) on May 26th.

While April's supermoon was a "pink" supermoon, the May moon will be a "blood moon".  Or, as some call it, a "flower moon".

Why is it called a "blood moon"?  According to the Old Farmers Almanac, we call it a "blood moon" because this month's moon coincides with a complete lunar eclipse.  That causes the Earth to cast a shadow over the moon, which makes it look red.

And, "Flower Moon"?  That term comes from the Native Americans and the fact that so many flowers are in bloom at the end of May.

If you won't have a chance to get outside to see it, Time And Date will be streaming it on their Youtube channel.

The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here.
