It didn't take long for MLB to come down hard on Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes. A four game suspension and undisclosed fine for throwing at Baltimore's Manny Machado.

Barnes will appeal the penalty which means he can play in tonight's game against the Yankees.

“People are going to think what they want. All I know was I was trying to go up and in, trying to get some weak contact with [Adam] Jones on first. Unfortunately one got away from me, and like I said I would never intentionally throw at somebody’s head. That’s potentially life-changing and that’s unacceptable.” - ESPN Boston

Barnes has pitched in 10 games so far, going 2-0 with an ERA of 3.60.
