Donna from Kittery, Maine, Thanks a Stranger Named Barbara aka ‘Her Christmas Angel’
Isn’t it so darn stressful when you lose something important in public? I remember I dropped my wallet on the floor at a 24-hour diner in New York City when I was in my 20s.
Because it was New York City, I was pretty convinced that my 40 dollars in cash, license, and Hello Kitty credit card were gone forever. When I went back the next day to check I was astonished to find that someone had turned in my wallet to the hostess station and everything was still in there!
There are good people in this world EVEN in New York City. I was shooketh.
Donna from Kittery, Maine, was on the receiving end of an act of kindness this weekend, and it meant the world to her.
Donna shared this tale with the Portsmouth, NH, community Facebook page. She has been a proud resident of Kittery for 30 years and over the weekend she ventured into Portsmouth to do some shopping on Woodbury Ave. When she got home she realized she was without something very important, her purse.
She started to panic and got into her car to retrace her steps. She went back to all of the places she had been including Market Basket to look for her long-lost purse but came up empty.
On her drive home she started to think about all of the credit cards she needed to cancel and all of the Christmas shopping she still needed to do. The situation was making her feel stressed and frustrated.
As she pulled into her driveway, she noticed a car was behind her. A woman got out asked if her name was Donna and her address.
Donna nodded in confirmation and then the woman held up Donna’s little purse!
All Donna learned about this woman is that her name is Barbara and she restored Donna’s faith in humanity.
Barbara, if you are reading this, thank you for going above and beyond to do the right thing! You are Donna’s Christmas angel.
