More than a year ago, it was announced that the Saco Drive-In on Route One would be closing permanently. It left both locals and consistent visitors to the area shocked. The popular drive-in theater had been around for decades, and a place where many memories were made. Before the Saco Drive-In could become just a memory, Aquaboggan Water Park stepped in to save the day, acquiring the drive-in and its history. But there was a catch.

The catch was the Saco Drive-In would have to move across the street, as it turned out. Into an overflow parking lot for the water park. But the process of moving a large screen, setting up the parking lot, adding a concession stand, and making everything perfect for potential visitors takes time. The time for a grand opening is near.

According to Saco Bay News, Aquaboggan is planning on a grand opening for the next generation of the Saco Drive-In over Memorial Day weekend. Minus any last minute delays, the Saco Drive-In just needs to put some fresh coats of paint on things, then put together a movie lineup for the forthcoming season.

One detail that has been revealed is the pricing for the 2023 season. Saco Drive-In plans to charge $25 per vehicle up to three people. After that, there will be an additional $5 charge per individual. The Saco Drive-In also plans to be open only five nights per week during the season. The other two nights will be for private events or parties, when and if they come up.
