Firefighter Killed, Others Injured at Explosion in Farmington
A gas explosion on Route 2 in Farmington this morning has killed one firefighter and injured many others.
Details are few right now, but according to WMTW, the building is the main office for LEAP Inc., which provides support for people with developmental, cognitive and intellectual disabilities.
Witnesses say that there was rubble everywhere and smoke filled the sky, the news station reported, and fire crews responded to reports of smelling gas.
Twitter user JenayD shared a short video of the aftermath of the explosion. Warning: there is some NSFW language in the video.
WMTW stated that firefighters went into the building when it exploded, and the explosion was so fierce that people across Oxford and Franklin counties said they felt it.
Route 2 is closed in the area of the explosion, according to the news station, and traffic is being detoured to Route 156.
