Fryeburg Fair 2020 Cancelled Due to the Pandemic

Fryeburg Fair organizers announced on Monday that the 2020 fair will not happen, and that they are already planning for 2021.

It's the latest Maine event to cancel, out of public health concerns. The Fryeburg Fair started in 1851 and is an event anticipated each year by people from Maine and beyond. A huge fair, many people talk about how they set aside several days to explore everything from the midway to the extensive agricultural areas. But, this year, it won't be happening.

In a post on the event's Facebook page, organizers said their first priority is protecting the health and safety of the community, as well as thousands of visitors who attend each year. After following the progression of the pandemic and consulting with health and public safety officials, organizers decided that social distancing and personal protective equipment considerations would be nearly impossible to accommodate.

The capitol improvements planned for 2020 will continue and organizers say they're already looking forward to the Fryeburg Fair of 2021, which will happen October 3rd to the 10th.  More updates will be posted on the Fryeburg Fair Facebook page and website.
