One of the greatest things to come of the tragedy of the September 11th attacks, was the country coming together.

The question everyone was asking was, 'How can I help?' There was an immediate need for blood, and Americans gave like no other time. Life moves on and now that horrible tragedy was almost 20 years ago - but the need for blood never ends.

To commemorate those lives lost, the American Red Cross is holding blood drives across Maine on 9/11.

  • Auburn Fire Department / 550 Minot Ave., Auburn / 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Augusta Civic Center / 76 Community Dr., Augusta / 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Portland Elks Club / 1945 Congress St., Portland / Noon to 5 p.m.
