As I was wrapping up another broadcast day here at the Blimp yesterday, I was concerned to see a notification on my phone from News Center Maine that said a fishing vessel was in trouble off the coast of Portland. Later on, we heard the heartbreaking news that two bodies were found.

According to News Center Maine, "The groundfishing boat reportedly capsized, and the two bodies were found face down in the water and unresponsive."

There report also states that "The two fishermen have been identified as Arnold "Joe" Nickerson IV, 60, of Arundel and Chris Pinkham, 44, of Boothbay Harbor."

This is a very sad news for many of us in Southern Maine and beyond. It's a stark reminder of the dangers our brave Maine fishermen face when they are hard at work on the mighty ocean. We send love and light to the victims families and friends. We are so sorry for their tragic loss.

A beautiful statement was just written by Executive Director Ben Martens of the Maine Coast Fisherman's Association and posted on their official Facebook page.
