
Murder Suspects From Texas Arrested in Maine
According to WMTW, a couple from Texas, who were wanted for murder, have been apprehended in Southern Maine.
The York Police Department reported that 22-year-old Avery Stemmons and 21-year-old Karina Gonzalez Barreto, both from Killeen, Texas, were taken into custody on Tuesday as fugitives from justice.
The article explains that police in York were first made aware that the couple may be in the area on Monday.
Later that day, while he was on his way to another call, a York police officer spotted a couple matching the suspects' description walking along the street. Local police officers stopped the pair and positively identified them as the suspects.
After their warrants were confirmed, the couple was taken into custody by police. They were transported to the York Police Station for processing before being taken to the York County Jail in Alfred.
During their detainment and arrest, Stemmons and Barreto reportedly cooperated with police.

A gun believed to have been used in the killing was discovered at the scene.
They are being charged with murder, arson, and abuse of a corpse.
Authorities have not released any details about the victim of the killing or when the killing took place.
