According to several news sources, including WABI and WMTW, a Maine man is dead following a Wednesday morning crash in the Northern Maine town of Millinocket.

Police say the crash happened just before 8 AM on Outer Central Street near Rice Farm Road.

When officers arrived, they found a propane delivery truck and an SUV off the road. Both vehicles had heavy damage.

Police say the 28-year-old driver of the SUV was critically injured.  Despite life saving efforts by the Millinocket Fire Department, he died at the scene.  His name has not yet been released.

Investigators believe the SUV was traveling west when it lost control on the ice covered road, spun, crossed into the eastbound lane, and was struck by the propane truck.

There is no word on the condition of the person driving the propane truck.

Police are continuing to investigate this tragic crash.
