One of the many reasons people have been vacationing in Maine for well over a century is the number of things we have to do in our state.  This is especially true during the summer months.

We have cool towns to explore, hundreds of great restaurants, trails for hiking, dozens of amazing breweries, sandy beaches, and some of the best amusement parks in New England.

Speaking of amusement parks, one of the region's most iconic amusement parks has set a 2026 opening date.

Palace Playland at Old Orchard Beach

Palace Playland, New England's only beachfront amusement park, has been around for over a century.

When the park first opened in 1902, it was centered around a merry-go-round and a roller skating rink.  Since then, the park has grown a lot!

These days, the park features dozens of rides including the Dodgem (bumper cars), Electra Wheel, Drop Zone, Super Star, Hyperjump, and a bunch of kiddie rides.

It appears that the 2026 season will feature a new roller coaster called the Speedy Coaster.

When Does Palace Playland in Maine Open For the Season?

According to the park's website, the rides will first open on Saturday, May 23rd.  That's the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.  Following the holiday weekend, the park's rides will be open on weekends until the middle of June.  Starting on June 18th, the park will be open daily through the Labor Day holiday.

The arcade will first open on Friday, April 17th.  It will be open through the April vacation and then switch back to being open weekends until the summer season gets kicked off.
