Irving Fuel Truck Overturns on Maine Highway Wednesday Morning
According to a press release from Maine State Police Spokeswoman, Shannon Moss, the incident happened just before 2:45am on Wednesday morning.
Moss went on to explain that emergency crews got a call at 2:43 Wednesday morning with reports of an overturned 18-wheeler in the northbound side of Interstate 295 near Brunswick, Maine.
When Maine State Troopers and other emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found a Kenworth tractor hauling an Irving fuel tanker filled with kerosene. The truck was being operated Wednesday morning by Nicholas Garcia, 28 of Cape Elizabeth, Maine when it veered off the road and overturned off the right side.
The driver of the fuel truck, Nicholas Garcia, was taken from the scene of the crash and transported to Portland's Maine Medical Center where he was listed as having non-life-threatening-injuries.
At last check, the tractor trailer truck was still at the scene of the crash and, due to leaking fuel, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection was in route to the location of the rollover.
Moss went on to explain that Copp Motors was also responding to the scene to help right the overturned rig. At this time, Maine State Police is still investigating what led to the truck overturning in the first place.
Traffic in the area can still get by, though the going may be slower than usual due to the cleanup of the truck and spilled fuel. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route until which time the scene has been cleared.
